Douglas was transferred to the Hospice of the Comforter's Hospice House last night and quietly passed away in his sleep this morning at 3am.
I am sad but I am also relieved because he is now not in pain anymore and he went the way he wanted, with Kyle and I beside him.
Jimmy has mentioned that quite a few folks are asking whether we will be doing a service in addition to the Wake Doug requested for his 47th birthday.
Yes, Kyle and I will be having a service.

I am truly sad to hear the news. He was a wonderful guy, and true friend to all who knew him. I hope that there is some comfort in that his suffering is over, and that the love he had for you and your son can carry you through the pain of his loss.
We send our sincere sympathy and love to Doug’s precious and beautiful son Kyle and his spouse Marjorie, and to his grieving and loving parents, grandparents and his special friends. It is somewhat unbelievable to realize that he is no longer among us. How sad that he lost his very brave and gallant fight against those formidable odds. He was honest, fun, serious, intelligent, gentle, kind, loving…. We met him when he was nearly two - our son’s “best friend” throughout their pre-school years. He was already a loving and kind little boy - the best “best friend” our son could have had. Doug’s passing has left a huge void in this world - we will all miss him. As we reflect on our connections with Doug, a treasury of happy memories will always be there—may such memories bring you peace and give you strength in knowing that those we love are never gone, but live within our hearts forever.
